On Friday 28th June 2024, Southwark Playhouse came to St. Paul’s to perform their unique theatrical play ‘Windrush Child’, adapted from John Agard’s beautifully evocative poem. With one last hug, Windrush Child waves goodbye to his Caribbean home in Jamaica and sets sail across the ocean to Britain, navigating the challenges and rewards of moving to a new home.
This incredible performance used live music and audience interaction to create a show full of hope and promise that celebrates the story of the Windrush Generation whilst also exploring themes of friendship, family and change in a safe and inspiring way.
The staff and pupils at St. Paul’s school thoroughly enjoyed this engaging and interactive performance by Southwark Playhouse.
