This term in DT, Chestnut class are designing and building a kite using various materials after learning that kites were invented in Ancient China. We are exploring how to strengthen, stabilise and then evaluate the model against our design criteria.
In previous lessons, we investigated the features of a kite, using this information to design our own, choosing our materials and tools, before recording our observations in our sketchbooks. We made the kite frame, taking care to include the kite features and ensure our structure is strong.
Today, we added the kite tail using our chosen materials, before completing our decorations. We used marker pens, ribbons, and other materials and were pleased with how strong and stable our structures are.
Please look out for the finished pieces which will be displayed in the school. What talented designers you are Chestnut class!
