Ash class are learning about Pablo Picasso. Picasso is one of the most famous artists of the twentieth century. Why? Because he was brilliant at drawing and people really loved his doodles.
Even as a child he was better at drawing than many adults. He could draw and paint just about anything, and in any style. One of his most famous periods is the cubist period, with cubist paintings showing objects from many angles all at the same time.
We have been learning that Picasso also sculpted pottery and explored his famous King and Queen vases.
Using black drawing ink, we experimented with mark making, focusing on shape and pattern in our sketchbooks, ready to create our own clay sculptures of the vases. We investigated different ways to hold the paintbrush and used our observational skills to create what we could see in the picture. What wonderful shapes and marks you have created in your sketchbooks Ash class!
