Ash class have been learning about the life of the artist Henri Rousseau and to explore and use the skills and techniques used by the famous artist to create their own artwork.
We learnt that Rousseau was a self-trained painter and never went to a jungle, instead he studied plants in the botanical gardens in Paris.
We analysed the famous painting, Surprise Tiger in a Tropical Storm (1891) and drew our own images in our sketchbooks. We then explored tiger fur using our knowledge of secondary colours, before drawing our tiger together as a guided draw.
Finally, we added colour, mixing primary and secondary colours and carefully painting inside the lines.
We are very proud of our vibrant, colourful tigers!
