Redwood class were learning about the Romans last term and in their DT lessons, they were challenged to make their own Roman shield. After looking at some recreations of Roman shields they thought about the different features and what materials they could use to recreate them in their own design.
The children discussed the colours, patterns, and shapes that they could see and how to add texture, before painting the shield with acrylic paint in red tones. Today we attached our handles and shield designs, then shared our thoughts about the construction and the methods used. Such wonderful designs Redwood class!
