This term Larch class are studying the Ancient Egyptians, and in art they are making sculptures of canopic jars. We discussed what the jars were used for and why there were different designs for the lids before annotating the key features. Today we were planning our design by sketching it, thinking about the container we will use, the methods and tools, which head we will use and why. Next, we planned a hieroglyphic message for the front.
Lastly, we explored colour and recorded our observations in our sketchbooks, before using our colour mixing skills to create shades of brown with watercolour paints. We explored the lightest tones, the darkest shades, and the range of colours in between. We found that if we add too much black, our colour became dark very quickly!
