Our artist focus today is Guiseppi Arcimboldo, an Italian Renaissance painter who created imaginative portraits using flowers, plants, and fruits.
His most famous painting is called Flora, which is another name for plants and the Roman name for Spring. The children used oil pastels to create the lines and shapes before adding watercolour paints to create a resist effect. The children were encouraged to ‘draw big’ and fill the page.
We will add the facial features and fruit and vegetable collage additions in the next art session. Haven’t they done well!
