We have been learning about the Victorians this term and learnt about Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his achievements as an engineer in our DT lessons. We looked at the Clifton suspension bridge and how its design works and were challenged to build a model of the bridge, thinking carefully about the properties of the materials and the methods of attachment.
In previous sessions, we planned our designs in our sketchbooks, discussed all the joining and strengthening methods we could use and how to overcome any challenges we might face.
We tried to include all the features of a suspension bridge such as the hangers and cables, and finally our bridges are completed! We are very proud of them and how hard we worked to overcome the difficulties we faced.
