Did you know one of China’s most famous inventions is the kite? It was invented in 5th century BC and was originally used for military purposes but soon became popular for leisure activities.
Chestnut class have been learning about Ancient China and during their DT lessons used their knowledge and understanding of materials and their properties to design a kite. They explored the different parts of a kite and how each part helps a kite fly before making informed choices about the materials they will use. The children thought about what worked well and what could be improved if they were to make the kite again and were encouraged to problem solve when they meet a challenge.
