Ash class have been learning about the famous artist Henri Rousseau, his life and works of art.
They were fascinated to find out that he never actually visited any of the many jungle scenes he painted and had no formal art training. Henri loved painting animals, especially animals from tropical jungles like tigers. His paintings are full of layers, with animals hiding behind trees and the moon peeping out from among tree branches.
Ash class are creating their own artwork in the style of Henri Rousseau, with bold shapes, repeating patterns, pure simple colours and outlined shapes. They looked at the famous painting ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm’ and tried to include the features of this famous self-taught artist in their artwork.
“Nothing makes me so happy as to observe nature and to paint what I see.”
~ Henri Rousseau
