Maple Class enjoyed a wonderful music session today as we completed our unit on Louis Armstrong. We began by warming up our voices, singing familiar songs with actions, and exploring changes in dynamics and tempo.
We then listened to music by Louis Armstrong, focusing on keeping the pulse as we listened. We were successful in identifying the sound of the trumpet—played by Armstrong—and used musical vocabulary to describe what we heard. Was the music fast or slow? Loud or quiet? Spiky or smooth?
We finished the session by moving our bodies to music using scarves and egg shakers. We listened carefully to the pulse and tempo of the music and followed adult instructions such as “fast,” “slow,” and “stop.”
