Year 6 have been learning about the Ancient Greeks and the many incredible developments that they offered the world both in technology and in art. The Ancient Greeks were known for their incredible skill with pottery and creating some of the most recognisable ceramic artefacts in the world. These beautiful pieces are in many museums around the world.
Two of the most famous styles of Greek vase are called black and red figure after the colour of the images that decorated the vases. Red figure style was most popular in the 5th century BCE, where the main figures were outlined and details were scratched into the glaze to expose the underlying red.
Year 6 used a similar method to make their own paper versions of these iconic works of art. We have taken some pictures of our efforts below in the gallery. We hope that you enjoy them. These can also be seen on our display board within the school.
