Roman Mosaics

The children have been learning about Romans and their lifestyles. Roman mosaics are designs made from tiny coloured stones (tesserae), although different materials were often used. These mosaics were used to decorate public and private buildings and were often used to show how wealthy the owners were.

We created our own mosaic designs using paint to print mosaic tiles. We carefully selected our chosen colours as the Romans did not use multiple colours for their designs. We included a border and a central image in the style of the Romans.

Below is a gallery of our work in progress. Once complete, you will be able to see our wonderful mosaics around the school on our display boards so please look our for those on your next visit.
