Queens Guard Visit

On Friday 10th January, St Paul’s Primary School had a very special visitor. Lieutenant Reames of the Queen’s Royal Guard very kindly spent some time with Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 classes. Lieutenant Reames came dressed in traditional battle/training fatigues; however, he did bring two very special items to show the children. These were his dress uniform Sabre and Bearskin. A Sabre is a type of sword and a Bearskin is the more popular tall furry helmet that you would see the Queen’s Royal Guard wearing outside Buckingham Palace.

It was a very interesting visit for Years 1 – 3 as Year 1 and 2 are currently studying Kings and Queens, and Year 3 are reading a book about Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.

Our visitor also took the time to pop over to see our younger pupils in Sycamore Class who were truly fascinated by the soldiers uniform; especially his Bearskin Helmet, which they all enjoyed wearing. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our visitor for taking the time to visit us. The children found the talk very interesting indeed!

We took some pictures during the visit, which can be seen in the two galleries below. For a larger view, please click on the thumbnails.
