This afternoon, the children in the art block were working on creating some amazing mosaics of ancient Aztec Gods. In particular, Chantico; the Goddess of the hearth.
The main learning objective here was for the children to understand how to recreate art to complete the printed Mosaic image by drawing or sketching the missing areas.
The children started with a complete picture of the goddess Chatico seperated into equal squares. The class then cut out all of the squares sticking every other square onto a fresh sheet of grid marked paper. They were then tasked with drawing the missing elements of the image into the empty squares.
We took a few pictures of this project today, which will be continuing next week so join us again then.
